ABOUT

The American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) is an independent, non-profit, student-run organization that is more than just a club. This grassroots association is a cooperative between thousands of students in North America (of all ages and academic degrees) committed to helping each other. It provides a sense of community which is used to share and create new ideas. The AIAS is a professional organization that serves as the official voice of architecture students. The Illinois Institute of Technology chapter of the AIAS (iitAIAS) has been serving the College of Architecture since 1982.

MISSION OF AIAS

-To promote excellence in architecture education, training, and practice.
– To foster an appreciation of architecture and related disciplines.
– To enrich communities in a spirit of collaboration.
– To organize students and combine their efforts to advance the art and science of architecture.

MISSION OF iitAIAS CHAPTER

-To foster community and collaboration among architecture students at IIT and across Chicago.
-To collaborate and communicate with the local AIAS Chicago community.
-To engage students and professionals from related disciplines.

-To showcase the resources of the AIAS to the students and faculty.
-To provide opportunities to explore architecture outside of studio.

-To bridge the gap between students, faculty, and professionals.
-To advocate for issues relevant to the profession.
-To advocate for studio culture.

CHAPTER BYLAWS

The bylaws are a set of documents in which the governance of the chapter takes place. Highlighting important functional aspects they provide a platform and structure. Any changes made are voted upon by the entire membership yearly during elections or during special circumstances as the Executive Board sees fit.
